Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich

WEBSITES — Just Shelter was founded by Matthew Desmond and Tessa Lowinske Desmond to raise awareness of the human cost of the lack of affordable housing in America and to amplify the work of community organizations working to preserve affordable housing.   — The National Low Income Housing Coalition is achieving socially just public policy that assures people with the lowest incomes in the United States have affordable and decent homes. — The National Housing Law Project (NHLP) is a nonprofit national housing and legal advocacy center established in 1968.  — The Urban Institute’s mission is to open minds, shape decisions, and offer solutions through economic and social policy research. — The National Coalition for a Civil Right to Counsel’s mission is to encourage, support, and coordinate advocacy to expand recognition and implementation of a right to counsel for low-income people in civil cases that involve basic human needs.
